Job Shadow
For my job shadow, I interviewed Mr. Sal Calvo. He is the co-owner of Midstate Air Compressor that is located on the Berlin Turnpike. I was extremely nervous going into the job shadow. The company seemed really intimidating from the outside looking in, and I wasn't sure if they would take me seriously. I was, however, also really excited. I am going to the University of Bridgeport to major in mechanical engineering, and this company is a form of engineering I may be exploring as potential careers. I went into the building and saw the basic rundown of what they do there on a day-today basis. Mr. Calvo showed me how his whole company worked and spoke of plans of expansion in the future. I met his wife, who is the president of the company, and she told me how she loved working there. The business is family-owned, so they try their best to create long-term relationships with their clients. I really enjoyed seeing what they do everyday. I am trying to go to school and get a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Seeing what they do only affirmed what I want to do in the future. I still don't really know what I want to do with the degree as a career, but I know for a fact that this was what I am interested in.
